Chinese antique doors

A hallmark of Qing-dynasty domestic architecture, tall lattice panels such as these were used in courtyard homes to allow light and air into a room whilst maintaining privacy. A tall early 19th century lattice doors screen with fine carved panel in the center and bat see-through top. This antique Chinese door screen has beautiful open fretwork which allows light & air to flow. Has age marks with a sealed lacquer finish. Bottom is a longevity character, also simple lines repsent dragon. Linked by alternating hinges, lattice panels become a versatile way to partition sparsely furnished interiors into areas for eating, socializing, and resting.
